Derek Kalles – Founder and CEO

Derek KallesDerek began his professional career working for business and technology consulting firm Accenture, contributing to the mission of a variety of clients in the Puget Sound area. As he learned new and better approaches in solving business and technology challenges, Derek began to miss the real estate industry in which he grew up and decided to join the family business, Kalles Property Management, and apply these learnings. The company doubled its size and is now located in south Puget Sound providing regional property management needs. During his experience growing the management company and his time as a consultant himself, Derek noticed road blocks for professionals in their careers and gaps in the quality of service clients were seeking. He knew it could be done better – not only more competently, but also with the heart of any business – its people – truly at the forefront of each decision. Derek founded Kalles Group to ensure there’s a company in the field of technology consulting that prioritizes consultant and client relationships over transactions.

A Seattle native, Derek is very involved in his community and church, including the Treehouse organization, and serving on the Board of Directors for the Entrepreneurs’ Organization Seattle Chapter. Recently, he has taken the principles from Kalles Group and brought them to its sister company, SumBridge, to help expand the professional service areas to finance and accounting. Derek graduated with a degree in Economics and Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems from the University of Washington. He lives in Seattle with his wife Kirstin, their two kids, Lucius and Henrietta, and their French Bulldog, Norman.

Ryan Williamson – Director of Recruiting & Operations

Ryan WilliamsonA seasoned IT professional with 15 years in the industry, Ryan has worked across a variety of disciplines and technologies. In his earlier years, he provided consulting services in application support and network administration, working with companies such as Amazon, IBM, and Voicestream Wireless. Eventually he found his sweet spot working in project management and spent most of his later years working as a full-time program manager in Redmond with Microsoft. During this time, he focused heavily on configuration management and enterprise desktop deployment and security, working as a global Release Manager with System Center Configuration Manager and Forefront anti-malware products.

Today, Ryan brings a technical focus to our team as we deliver professional IT services and capabilities to our clients. He is passionate in not only helping bring the right solutions to our client’s toughest problems, but also in going a step beyond by providing critical engagement management and direct consulting to assist in situations where overall scope and approach may still be in flux.

John Stephenson – Client Services Director

John comes to Kalles Group with 10+ years in consulting & technology services.  He built his delivery experience providing end-to-end solutions for large enterprise clients across North America and Europe for clients in financial services, technology, retail, healthcare, oil & gas, and consumer goods industries.  Before joining Kalles Group, he spent over 8 years with Apptio, where he joined as the first Customer Success hire and had the opportunity to grow with the company to significant scale and through IPO.  In that time, he served in technical, project management, client management and team leadership roles in the Customer Success and Professional Services disciplines.

Today, John brings a balanced approach to Kalles Group client services with deep solution delivery expertise, a relationship-centered approach to working with clients & consultants, and a deep desire to understand customer needs & provide top service.

A resident of Seattle since 2008, John lives with his wife Kara and their two children Clive and Laine.  Outside of work, he enjoys running, cycling, cooking, gardening and tackling home improvement projects.  He graduated from Samford University with a degree in Business Management with a Finance concentration.

Andrew Aldrich – Account Manager

Andrew AldrichAndrew’s passion for IT professional services was kindled early on while working to help talented technical professionals with their next career steps after graduating. He saw the impact of enterprise technical development through on-site interviews overseas with diverse teams in Fortune 100 IT organizations. Andrew went on to serve populations suffering from epidemic diseases by working with a global health company in their coaching division. During his tenure he delivered a constructive qualitative framework for a thousand-user CRM UX testing in the wireframe stages to senior operations and technical managers, and personally sourced a handful of roles across the firm.

Andrew’s background in the dynamic healthcare sector and in global IT operations research drive him to personally pursue, and advise on, best practices in IT and hiring for Kalles Group’s clients and consultants.

Ben Harris – Client Services Manager

Ben Harris is a customer-driven business strategy and innovation leader with 15+ years of strategic and tactical experience in Product Development, Business Analysis, and Technology Startups. He has managed complex programs and led international business teams within Fortune 500 companies to transform the way partners and clients securely use data and cloud technologies to deliver business insights and game changing products and services.

Ben’s authentic and down-to-earth engagement style is combined with his deep passion for delivering an unforgettable experience that drives measurable results and ever-increasing value across the organization. He is also an accomplished jazz pianist, a casual golfer, and an avid video gamer.

Eddy Cruz – Cybersecurity Practice Director

eddyheadshot2Eddy Cruz is the Cybersecurity Practice Director for Kalles Group. Eddy is an accomplished leader and has more than 16 years of experience in technology, information security, and risk management. He currently leads an organization and defines and executes the strategy for information security, governance risk and compliance, infrastructure and automation capabilities for Kalles Group. Mr. Cruz also holds multiple technical and industry certifications including multiple Cisco, Microsoft, Compita, and CIW Certifications, as well as the ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Prior to joining Kalles Group, Eddy was the Associate Chief Information Security Officer of Daptiv Solutions and has previously served as Information Assurance Manager for military and DoD Organizations.

Eddy is a member of the multiple non-profit and technology association boards, the most notable being the Washington State Infragard – Evergreen Chapter where he currently serves as the chapter’s president. Previously he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, participating in multiple operations around the world and earning several commendations.

Eddy is a native of the Pacific Northwest and is currently working to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Information & Computer Science from the Western Governor’s University.

When not working to secure information and communications systems, Eddy likes to put his program management and risk management skills to the test by designing and engineering race cars, and competing in local motorsports races.
